An annoying squeak and grind

Featured Replies

Had an issue recently with my power steering feeling totally detached from the car fab vrs mk1, I presumed power steering pump, so parked it up till my pal could take a look.. One advisory on mot was steering rack leak, anyways my pal had a nosey around, plugged it in his magic laptop and no errors on that and said yes it was my steering rack, and kindly dismantled part of my engine bay to get to the oddly placed reservoir, all was better except for grind squeak after a chat we decided it needed booking in for a replacement, £310 later it's still doing it???! My vag specialist pal is on holiday so I'm in the hands of garage that did the rack swop! What else could it be?? Also a slick knocking on bumps and speed bumps on same side, please help

Drop links need replacing for sure, check the front brake disc dust guards aren't fouling the disc slightly.

Brakes fully up graded all around, but alas the issue has been found! It's a snapped spring on the drivers side, thankfully a top end snap as told bottom end could have caused many dramas, it's off in today to have both sides replaced (keeps balance) £200? Fair price for a garage I thought?

Can't believe they only gave you an advisory for the PAS leak. They failed mine for the same thing which caused e a week of emergency holidays off work while I got it sorted...

If I had been brave or rash, I would have suggested knackered top bearing, as it turned out I was in the right area!  Anyway, smart move on getting both sides done, maybe even include the top bearings as well to try to get the maximum benefit from your "investment".

Edit:- price does sound fair to me!
