Snow Chains and 225/50/17 tyres

Featured Replies

I would go for steel rims for winter tyres. There's no point spending more on alloys and maybe trashing them. I got mine from MyTyres as a wheel and tyre package.

Agree, much more likely to trash alloys in winter, especially if there is a few inches of snow/ice.  Think sliding up against kerbs, dislodged chunks of road surface hidden under piles of slush, bits that have been knocked/dropped off other cars/buses/trucks ditto.   I did the same as you and bought the package from MyTyres.  Dead easy to swap wheels over at home twice a year.
