Technological progress over the last 10 years

Featured Replies

Am driving my bros L reg corsa 1.4 today (DONT ask why! :o ) and it kinda dawned on me just how far small-car technology has advanced in the last 10 years.. the fabia is lightyears ahead, much bigger inside, better driving position better interior quality/seats/comfort also ride, handling and refinement.. wonder what small cars will be like in another 10 years time! :)

Small car technology has advanced in the last 10 years, although I would contend that my old 1987 registered Vauxhall Astra is a better and more comfortable drive than a 2005 Nissan Micra (that I had for a courtesy car two weeks ago). ;)

Was thinking simliar thing last night but about crash protection. How its come a long way since the days of the Escort. Remeber when cars didn't have rear seat belts as std. Now they have about 15 airbags

Things have definitely improved :)

I got a bit of a shock when I went back in the Rover 100 this weekend. Apart from the battery having died (no surprise) the thing started first time. Brakes were a little doubtful but after a few hard brake/accelerate sessions it's sorted :)

Noise, lack of braking/accelerating/comfort certainly sprang to mind :P

Also what you could also remember is that Skodas model range at the time consisted of a 1.3l Favorit with 3 trim levels, all of which come with less as std than the Fabia classic (although you did get a sunroof on the GLXi).

Have to agree... was sitting in college car park the other day comparing my car to others around (most tending to be piles of m

You notice the differance from a Felicia to a Oct'y2

Actually i think you will find nothing has changed in the Vauxhall Corsa department. They still drive like a bag of t055 - feel awkward to drive and the steering is simply dangerous. A variation on a theme I think.

As fir the rest of the world, things do change, some for the better, some for the worse.

Agreed SWSBO's Rover metro was differnt to drive the other week, though it reminded me how much fun the older cars can be!

ditto with the felicia to fabia, I nearly put myself through the front screen everytime after being in the felicia! Them furby brakes are good!
