A few weeks back I had the Skoda Yoda remove the third brake light to plug the washer fluid hose, when it was reconnected it was instantly noticeable that it got a lot brighter than before it was unplugged, I can now see on very dark roads the reflection of the third brake light in the rear window just below where it sits which I hadn't noticed before, so if you want a bright third brake light, it appears simply unplugging and replugging it will give you this, unless mine was dodgy from factory
