Internal Condensation Experiment - Your Input Required

Featured Replies

Given the threads I've seen here, internal condensation on the Fabia is more extent than in some other makes. So to test out some a result I *may* have achieved, please can you try the following configuration?

1. Run temp dial at 20-22deg C indicated.

2. Run fan between strength 1 and 2

3. Switch AC and air recycle to off (both unlit)

4. Air direction dial half way between downward and outward vents.

5. Front, dashboard vents to be left open and on.

This applies to normal "in-flight" settings. At startup, you can of course run the fan faster and change the flow direction, but try to revert back to the above settings as soon as possible. On shutdown and vacating your motor, leave the above settings as is.

Do this for a few days and let's say reply back with your findings in a week. Let me know if you had a problem with condensation before, what dates that occured and what occurs when with my config. Might be useful to state where you live and the prevalent weather conditions for that day.

i'll forget that list everytime i go out lol

To counter that (;)), I used to leave all my vents open and have the dials set at 20-22 deg C, fan speed 1, vent dial at 9 o'clock, air con on and recirc off.

Never ever had any problems with condensation on the screen, and would just increase fan speed and move the vent dial to windscreen to demist the windscreen first thing in the morning.

The above is the config I used on my last car. I've now gone from sopping to dry inside. I think though the dry days low humidity we are having may have contributed...

Hi

I teach driving in mine and regualrly sit in the car with the engine off on wet days. Here, misting can be a problem. I find that by running the fan at position 2 on damp days, I get little condensation if any unless people are getting in and out in wet clothing. Generally have the air distribution set to 9 o'clock position.

To dry out the car, it is quite effective to use the aircon, or alternatively, just run with the windows open for a couple of journeys.

One thing that affects all aircon cars I have had is the aircon dependency. Once you have run it at this time of year, the evaporator coils do not dry overnight, so when you start next say, the car will mist if A/C is off. Again, run with windows open to dry it out, or just stay with the aircon.

Lastly, dont let it get sopping wet or it will take ages to dry out. At this time of year, the aicon will not soak up much energy, so may as well run it as required.

I did have a small problem with condensation in the Fabia (for the first time) last week. I have just started to leave the airflow dial at 9 o'clock (screen and feet) when leaving the car and I've not had any problems since. This is despite having similar weather conditions. Fan speed will always be 1 or 2, and temp usually around 20-22.
