K03 or K04 turbo & will my MKV GTI bluefin work?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

New to Skodas so please be gentle.

I have just bought a 2011 Octavia VRS 2.0 TFSI, does this engine have the K03 or K04 turbo? I'm assuming K03 given the standard power output but wasn't entirely sure.

If it is a K03 will the superchips bluefin unit I have for my 2005 MKV Golf GTI work? Or is it locked to the Golf's ECU?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

It's a K03,and you'd need to send the Bluefin back to Superchips for them to unlock it for use on another car, which will be slightly cheaper than buying a new one.

Forgot to say: welcome to the site :)

A 2011 will have the TSI engine and is fitted with an IHI turbo, not the K03 fitted to the earlier TFSI engined cars.

The IHI in the TSI is still designated a K03 though isn't it?

I've just checked some old emails I exchanged with Superchips back in 2012, the cost then (which was based on providing new software for another Octavia) was £205 if the remap had been removed from the previous vehicle, or £325 if not. I ended up selling it on Ebay for peanuts :)
