Console Bush Tool

Featured Replies

I've been searching for a Console Bush tool and was wondering what people have bought. I'm wanting to change my bushes.

You can do it tool-less if you use polybushes or PSB type.

As long as you have a hacksaw blade, a rough screwdriver and a hammer to remove the old ones.

Thanks for the response.

Yeh I bought psb ones. Do I need a ratchet strap that people are using?

Yes!

Yes!

I fitted the PSB ones with no ratchet strap. The arms push into the plastic centre bit reasonably easily.

If you lube everything up with fairy liquid it should push in fairly easily.

^ Yeah, fairy liquid is incredibly slippery stuff. Perfect for this job.

Oh sorry, didn't read psb bushes - Prolly not! Cupra one... definitely ratchet straps!

Oh and sex lube is water based and doesn't hurt rubber, also good for fitting windscreen rubbers...  Does look abit odd in the garage toolbox...

A good mechanic should be prepared for all eventualities.

SIL did mine for me as I'm getting a bit mobile deficient. He said he had problems fitting the polyfix ones ( tight fit), but it did go in. Failing using a ratchet strap to persuade them I'd be tempted to fit a bit of decent size rope round the outside and tighten it using a large screwdriver ( known as Spanish Windlass)

Maybe he was thinking about Polygrip!

Edit:- the old Spanish Windlass trick, I used to use that when getting gearboxes back into LRs single handed - as a lad! It did not leave too many marks on the roof!
