2.0TSI VRS Lumpy Idle - MIL On :-(

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hoping someone might be able to help a poorly Skoda.... Driving home this evening I noticed the idle was a bit erratic. When stopping in traffic the idle was sitting at around 1200RPM then dropping down in steps until it reached a normal idle.

Still pulls like a train when driving, it just seems to be an idle issue.

Plugged it into Vagcom a few moments ago with the following results...

There is also a high pitched noise coming from under the bonnet somewhere too which is new!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

High pitched noise could be the PCV? Does it sound like this: https://vid.me/BrcW

It's similar, although yours seemed to make the noise when shutting the engine off, mine only does it when it's running.

Definetly something I will check though!

Thanks

See if the high pitch noise goes away when you pull out the oil dipstick.

Ok will give that a try, what exactly does that tell me?

Thanks

I tried removing the dipstick this morning with the car running, there was a massive rush of air either into or out of the dipstick pipe, the engine coughed and spluttered and then settled down to idle again.

The high pitched squeal did not go away, nor is any where near as loud as that one in the video.

Thanks

Any more ideas?

I have removed the plastic pipe from the inlet manifold going to the PCV, blown through it very gently and it will allow air through, but as soon as i blow a little harder it locks up and allows nothing through.

Removing the dipstick this morning actually caused the engine to stall.

When pressing on top of the PCV valve with the engine running, the squeal does subdue slightly and the engine changes tune and seems to run a little better.

I have ordered another PCV presuming it to be this, but any more ideas would be great!

Thanks

Dan
