part number check for x reg 2000 1.4 16v elegance

Featured Replies

hey guys, could you help confirm/check some part numbers with me...

getting confused with info from dealer and used parts specialists.

1j4959857A - driver side windows switch - been told it for an octavia but thats what the label says under the original part. Also, I have seen the same part with different ending letters, B, C etc...Would the part still work? they look the same and have the same number of pins.6Q0959811 - rear passenger window motor - rear window motor.I haven't seen the part number on my card to confirm. 3B2837016A - front driver door lock mechanism - is this correct for my car? again been told its for an octavia.I haven't seen the part number on my card to confirm.

Thanks

The current (well almost current, the parts site I use is a year out of date) part number suggested for the driver's side switch for four-electric-window set up for your year is 1J4959857C. Item 2B here. About £30 for a genuine part from dealerships e.g. this listing. Parts with the original part number will work too, and almost certainly the in-between, B-suffix version. Secondhand parts probably a bit of a gamble here though.

The rear window motor seems to have gained a suffix "A" compared to your part number, and I have no idea what the "005" signifies in the second row under item 5.

Front door lock, drivers side depends on whether you have remote central locking or not.  Look at the "right rhd" variants of item 1 here. Maybe 3B2837016R if yours has remote C/L?

Parts may well be common to several models, so don't worry about seeing them mentioned in descriptions.

thanks Wino, really helpfull stuff.

Don't worry about parts for other cars, VAG use parts from all their cars.......................the rear disc brakes also appear on MK4 golf & Audi TT....................I use this site for diagrams
