Error code but no symptoms - should I be concerned?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just bought a 1 year old Rapid Spaceback.

There is a fault code logged for the heating and ventilation system -

01272 - Positioning Motor for Central Flap (V70)

Cleared the code, but it came back again almost straight away.  I've tried every setting on the Climatronic and it all seems to work absolutely fine.

Should I be concerned?  Car is still under warranty.

Thanks!

I would suggest you take it back to the garage. This part went on my Octavia and it's not a cheap fix as the dash has to come out, or at least that's what I was told. Luckily it was under warranty so didn't cost me a penny.

You'll find that these motors often appear as faults but cause no problems.

If it's under warranty then it makes sense to get the fault rectified.

Just run the output tests for the flap motors to reset them and clear the code, or take it back and get it replaced under warranty - can you hear the clicking sound of the flap every now and then?

I will mention it next time it goes in for service.  Seems a bit silly taking it in just for that when it works fine.

How do I run output tests?  FYI I read an reset the error codes using Carista + a bluetooth OBDII module.

Not noticed any clicking.
