Roomster seat replacement

Featured Replies

Hi folks, got an 07 Roomster with 130k on the clock & have just noticed the drivers side seat back bolster is wearing in the usual place. To get the dealer to replace the cover would cost a fortune. I have seen a Fabia MK2 seat on ebay in the same cloth pattern & was wondering if the seats are the same. I thinking of buying the new seat & swapping the backs over as the cushion on the new one looks grubby.I did this on a MK1 Fabia & it was a piece of cake.

Both seats have side airbags which I presume would mean just unclipping a multiplug, but would this bring on the airbag light which I would then have to have reset? Oh & is it a good idea to disconnect the battery if I do this job?

I'm working on the basis that the side airbag may activate on reconnection if not.

Cheers all

Seats a straight swap?

Yes.

Disconnecting battery?

No idea, but seems logical.

You may or may not get an airbag light that can be removed with VCDS.

You'll need some spline sockets for removing the seats.

Shouldn't be a problem having the light on. As I understand it, the light is effectively displaying the fact there is/was a fault.

If the light remains on after clearing the fault code, then obviously something isn't right.

Thanks for the advice folks, as for the splined bits, I already have them from when I did a seat swap on my MK1 Fabby

(same problem of bolster wear which seems to happen circa 125k miles)

The above link is very good. Putting the seat in backwards, now that was "funny", at least you could talk to the people in the back.

I disconnected the battery on the last three sets of seats I fitted, with no problem. The only ones I had problems with, was when I fitted some none Skoda seats with different wiring, J5 cleared my fault light.

You don't particularly need to unplug the battery. If the keys are out, the airbag system isn't active. You can do, but it might find a random reason to chuck a fault light after you put the battery back on.

I thought the same when fitting my first set of seats, key out, all must be off so cannot throw up fault. Could not believe air bag light stayed on.

Three sets of seats, disconnected battery, fitted seats, connect battery, all ok no fault lights. That included the last set, which had to be done three times because the pressure pad in the passenger set wouldn't work properly. That's what I have found. :nerd:
