Newby with remap questions

you have to remember that creature comforts are nil in the Elise, I don't even have a radio as it saves weight so its even lighter, hence faster so digi climate control is not essential. it saps power too when its turned on.

The Fabia looks less "body kit like" compared to the Ibiza and i'm sure that 190BHP and circa 300lb/ft is gonna be fun in a Fabia. A nice set of Audi S3 or Octy vRS wheels will set it off well and a remap etc will make it a nice prospect.

It hardly saps power and can't be turned off as the Ibiza/Fabia have a clutchless compressor for the A/C :D If having power sapped is a concern, why buy a diesel with a big heavy lump at the front in the first place... go for the 1.4 TDI with the aluminium block ;)

Hi Paul

I would agree with you.

Why pay more for virtually the same car.

But with the mods that you list this would make the car more personal to you.

Right your list

1) PD they have just put the price up , but

nah, vRS is looking good IMHO. As for the aircon, well if its a clutchless system I will have to live with it. I was addicted to the way my Focus TDCI picked up speed through the mid range. Screwing the t*ts off it did no good but quickly swapping the cogs kept it on the boil enough to do some **** dasterdly over taking moves

With a 6 speed box, re-map and nearly 300lb/ft of torque & less weight it should put the focus to shame!

Can anyone put 300N/M torque into lb/ft for me please or tell me the conversion factor to make this figure into lb/ft please?

Also, what does a vRS tip the scales at?

Can you lot tell I'm weight obsessed - this is what Elise ownership does for you ;)

300NM = 221 lbft. Use the excellent converter here

An unmapped furby give more that that, mine O/P 244.5 lb/ft on a RR.( with green panel filter).

Mapped are giving between 280 - 310 lb/ft depending on which remap you have.

If you look at the Ibiza PD160 vs Fabia vRS purely on paper and not in the real world, you would indeed spend alot to get it to the same spec. But to be honest there isnt a great deal between these two cars when driven on usual UK roads. In fact I found the ride so much better on the Fabia that it was that much more enjoyable to drive. I thought the power differential didnt make enough of a real difference at the end of the day.

They are both very good cars, the Seat is indeed faster and I dont need to re-itterate what others have said in regards to modifying etc. However the Furby has 5 dors, IMO nicer interior and feels chunkier. The PD130 can still be taken to 310 lb/ft of torque and 190 bhp with correct mods (a remap, green panel filter and cupra air intake).

Where are you from? If you are in the Leeds/York area I would glady meet up so you can test out what the remapped vRS is like.

I would opt for CC1 if I were to remap now but IIRC Jabba have new rollers now that a much more accurate and the BHP doesnt seem to be much/any lower that what they were claiming on the old "inaccurate" rollers so maybe Jabba maps are very good.

Also the Jabba map is custom whereas CC1 isnt. So if your planning a lot of mods it's cheaper to go the Jabba route than spending
