Getting the hang of it

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

We now have our 1'2 Fabia at home. It has 16" wheels, daytime running lights, front fog lights, sorts seats, three spoke steering wheel with various controls i.e cruise control and seems to conform to the SEL version but with Swing info system and no reversing sensors although it does have brake assist . A bit of a mishmash I feel although I'm not complaining. Maybe the French market is different. It is labelled Edition on the B pillars but I can't find any reference to this so far. Fuel seems to last for 700kms between fill ups but it is only a week old with 15km on the odometer when collected. First impression are very favourable, we had our last Fabia for eleven years and there has been a big change in the feel of the car: it is very lively, the materials inside will wear well I think. Because of ferrying young footballers around I opted to keep seat covers on the last one and cleaning mud from the fabric door cards wasn"t easy. All in all we view it in a positive way. Does anyone know the capacity of the fuel tank? I ran it down to fifty kms remaining and could get any more than 39.4 litres in. I hope that you new owners are enjoying yours. Ian.

Fuel tank is specified by Skoda as "approximately 45 litres". Glad you like your new Fabia.

45 litres, But you might be able to vent the tank too, like on the mk2?

I think the handbook says to consider the tank full when the nozzle first clicks "off". I'm sure Imhave seen a post somewhere advising against venting unless inncertain circumstances. A search might find it for you.

Yaah. You shouldnt vent unless youre filling up before a long journey, due to youre giving the fuel nowhere to expand to.

But if you are going on a long journey, it can be very usefull to get in an extra few litres.

I recently got 507 miles till the fuel light ping in my 1.2 HTP mk2.
