I have brought a 2nd hand speedo set which I will be changing the leds to white buy wondering if I plug it in will it read the mileage from the previous car or will it read from my car?

It will read the mileage of the car it was removed from and the immobiliser will need to be coded to your car otherwise it will not run your car. You will need someone with the relative software to perform this or a main dealer. They may not though as its a second hand part.

Ah Ok then if I remove the original speedo and then re fit it, will that need to be programmed in again?

That I don't know. All I know is that the clocks are coded to the car with a 4 digit immobiliser code.

There will be no problems with removal and reinstalling your genuine tacho, but if u swap it with different one, you will need a 4 digit code from old gauge to re-program new gauge, like it was mentioned in previous post. You can extract 4 digit gauge code with VCDS, so find expert help.
