Spanner Light/Service

Featured Replies

Service light just started flashing when I start the engine and plan to service it myself.

Can I use vcds to reset it after I've done the service and if so can someone point me in the right direction what boxes I need to tick please?

Thanks

the button that resets the mileage display on the dash, hold that down for 10 seconds, then whilst still holding this button down, turn the ignition on (don't start the car) then keep holding that button down until --- comes on the display. I think that's right.

Resetting the service light using the button on the dash resets it to fixed service intervals (10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever is reached first).

If you want to reset it to variable (long life) intervals you need to use your VCDS following this guide...

Tried those first intructions to the letter and it didnt work. Are they slightly wrong

I thought you had to turn it to the right, or am I thinking of the pre-FL cars?

Just checked both the pre-FL and FL owners manuals.

The FL manual has a section titled "Resetting the Service Indicator" but doesn't actually tell you how to do it, Skoda strikes again  :D

The pre-FL manual is slightly more helpful...

Resetting Service Interval Display

We recommend having this resetting performed by a specialist garage.

Specialist garage:

• resets the memory of the display after the appropriate inspection
• makes an entry in the Service schedule
• affix the sticker with the entry of the following service interval to the side of the dash panel on the driver's side.

The service interval displays can also be reset as follows by using the reset button ⇒ page 13, fig. 2 on the trip counter:

• Switch off the ignition, press the reset button of the trip counter for distance driven and hold it down.
• Switch the ignition on and release the reset button. Now turn the reset button to the right. The service interval displays are reset.
