Fuel Pump Problem

Featured Replies

Hi all hoping someone can help me!

I own a 54plate VRS which recently fails to start on a cold morning.

It takes around 5 minutes to hear the fuel pump kick in once turning the key in the ignition whilst waiting for all the lights to go out but one stays on which is the ASR light once that goes away then I can hear the fuel pump noise and the car starts fine.

The car runs as it should throughout the day but when leaving the car off for long periods like in the night then when it comes to the morning the fuel pump takes time to kick in.

I have changed the fuel pump relay, fuel filter and fuel pump but the problem is still there.

On a warm day it starts fine I can hear the fuel pump but once its cold I just be sat waiting for the ASR light to go out and then fuel pump kicks in.

Any solutions??? Much appreciated

unlikely but I'd start with the battery  those glow plugs really gobble the juice  then there's the power steering   may be it's voltage drop
