Fabia I Dip Beam Bulbs

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

How long should I expect my headlight dip bulbs to last?  I seem to be replacing them every 6 months!

At when one went I just replaced it with a cheap one, then the other would go shortly after and would replace that.  6 months later same again.

Last time both seemed to go at a similar time so I forked out and bought a set of Nightbreakers.  Now, 6 months and 2 days later one of them has gone.

Is this normal?

You seem to be going down the same path as I did some time ago.

I bought from E-Bay 100 watt bulbs both full beam and dipped, they lasted but a few months.

Then I bought I bought some 55watt bulbs for full beam and dipped again from E-bay, and those blew shortly afterwards.

I then bought another lot 55watt bulbs fron Halfords, nothing special, cheap budget priced, but, these have now lasted over 12 months.

Is there a moral or message in my story ?? LOL.

That does seem short.

Check how secure the plugs are.

I generally bank on a set a winter.

Either going early when pressed into use after a summer of light use or going late after a winter of hard use.

Tend to budget the same for wiper blades.

That said I'd contact OSRAM direct Jenko.

I had a similar issue with Nightbreakers a few years back when i went through 4 bulbs in 6 months,

I emailed them and returned the dead bulb(s) to them and they "investigated" and found "a fault" and send me a free pair of replacements.

Either than or i've got a set of Nightbreakers and Philips Extreme in a drawer going spare which were to go in the Fabias me and the wife no longer own! (althogugh they will come good on the Ibiza but and won't go in her xenon'd A3)
