Yeti wheels and tyres on an Octavi

Featured Replies

Just want to make sure, will these fit my 63 reg 2litre diesel Octavia with the standard size yeti tyres.

I have got Yeti alloys on mine Octy, but with the original Octy tyres. Some more details about the Yeti wheels are needed.

They are the Matterhorn alloys,17" with 225-50-R17 khumo tyres.I had them for sale but might think about putting them on my Octavia 2l TDI,non VRS.

225/45/17s are the standard 17 tyres size for the O3, yes? That would put the Kumho tyres as 3.55% greater rolling circumference, so would under-read your speed by a little - you'd be doing 72.5mph at an indicated 70, though its likely that would make the speedo a little more accurate (I need to do 73 on the speedo to get 70 on the GPS). I don't suppose that little extra would be an issue for clearances, but as a non-standard size your insurer might take issue (in the event of a claim) unless notified on your policy.

It'd be nice to see the on the car though, as the Matterhorns do look good.

Yes, they will fit. As dbg400 says, tyres are slightly bigger. One wheel rotation is 2066 mm vs 1991 mm. The tyre size is being used on Scout.

If insurer will reject any claims in event of an accident is pure speculation for not paying. The difference is almost neglible in terms of any cause for accidents. It is far, far, far more likely that crappy tyre brands or old rubbers will cause accidents (there aren't any focus on that)!

My local dealer have had several demo Octavias with Matterhorn. They look awesome, I like them alot!

I've run 17x7.5 ET45 with 225/50r17 on a MK2 Octy.  It made the speedometer totally accurate (100 speedo = 100 actual) which I really liked.

The car was lowered about 20mm more than a vRS

Rear clearance wasn't an issue.

On the front it would foul the bodywork if I hit a bump mid-corner.  It was annoying but not a show-stopper.  I did 31,000km like that.  I think if you had vRS springs or taller there wouldn't be any clearance issues.

I really like bigger diameter tyres and regret going back to standard sizing.

NB:  My economy was better too.

I will try them on and see how the car feels and any clearance issues, going by what you've said there shouldn't be any.
