Sheared bolt.

Featured Replies

Ok so my bro sheared a bolt on the front wishbone when trying to change my console bushes. How can I sort this? What parts do I need to buy? Any help would be appreciated. It's drivers side btw and mk1 Fabia Vrs. If I am F#%€$d anywhere I can take it in Wolverhampton, West Midlands area.

Assuming it's the big bolt that goes through the front bush into the console? It would take some serious skill to drill out the broken steel bolt from the ali and re-tap, so:

Right console 6Q0199294D (approx. £100 genuine, around half that for pattern part)

New bolt (you may already have?) N10640301

Would I have to do both bushes or ok just the one? Is a subframe needed?

Just looked at the part which I'm guessing is part of subframe?

It's items 7, the bolt, and (2) the console that you'll need as shown on here.

Technically, you're supposed to replace all the bolts that hold the console in place too, but I don't think many people would.

Don't understand your question about both bushes.

Is it that bolt that's sheared, or one of the three M8 bolts that hold the wishbone onto the balljoint? That would be much easier.

The front bush bolt has sheared. So need 1 number 7 and 1 number 2, may buy another to replace the other. Am I finally on the right track. Thanks btw.

Yep, left side one for a vRS seems to be part number 6Q0199293E. Depending on which type of bushes you are trying to fit, and where you go for the console(s), the replacement console may already have the bush pre-fitted.  Watch that you don't buy one(s) with just the original two vertical rubber webs type bushes in though.

Which bushes have you bought?

Yeah, the photo of the bush isn't ever-so clear, but it looks like the type with four rubber webs in an X shape, which is good.

Can probably get it a bit cheaper than that elsewhere. Not sure what ECP/GSF etc offer.

Had same bolt shear when changing my son's Fabia1 console bushes.

I used an extremely helpful 'how to' guide on BRISKODA, after shearing o/s long bolt I soaked the rusty end of the other side with penetrating oil. Came out fine after leaving overnight.

Skospares were really helpful and sent replacement used parts quickly and realistic price.

Let us know how you get on.

I took it in to local Vag centre who sorted it and changed the bushes that I bought.
