Does your skoda feel faster at times?

Featured Replies

Sometimes i feel like my monte tsi feels a lot quicker than other times. Also feels very quick for a 1.2 and have heard that a few of the montes have been known to produce up to 120bhp from tock (105tsi version). Really does make me love my car even more haha.

Also how many horses do you think the car loses as the years go? Mine has just done 11000 miles or around that so do you reckon i've lost a couple of horses?

I would say you gain not lose with such low mileage engines, that is as you have the engine run in, change the Oil, and if you use different fuel which you do each fill up it can sometimes be above the minimum Ron,  so 95 ron minimum, 97 minimum, 99 minimum etc.

The ambient temperature will make difference to how your car runs, as will the road surface and ground temps.

all small things, but it adds up.

Many a mickle makes a muckle.

Why not get your own car on a Dyno and see what it makes and how much more than 105 ps (Minimum)

Because that is a figure for all World Regions conditions, poor fuel, higher altitudes and extremes of weather temps.

Thanks for the input, some good points. Yeah i could dyno it when i save up some money for it, would be interesting what my car puts out as stock.

Mine seems more responsive when the weather is damp. I don't know if there is a scientific reason for this, but I do know that Spitfires (the planes, not the cars) had water injected into the inlet manifold, something to do with making the fuel burn faster, I think.

Cooler, slightly damp air creates a denser fuel/air mix hence production of slightly more power. Plus a lower ambient air temperature allows an engine to run more efficiently.

Agree 100% and it's more noticeable on forced induction cars.

It always makes me wonder why people take out the air box and stick on a cone filter to draw in all that less dense warm air from the engine bay and make it run less efficiently and lose power!

Our Vrs definitely runs better in cold weather, and definitely runs better on Tesco Momentum (min 99 ron) during winter months.

Also, with there now being 14k done on this replacement engine, you can sense it is running more freely than when first installed (cant believe it's been a year already), so I'm not sure about losing horses on a low miles engine that has been properly looked after.

Should just get more power as the engine runs in and free's up i reckon.

Start getting big miles.. Stuff gets worn and you start losing stallions

130k = quicker than 30k with most French cars :D

That's good to know, really enjoying my car atm until some scum put a coupke of screws through my tyre...thinking of changing my air filter next and hopefully that will make it run even better
