Octavia MK2 Heater blower playing up

Featured Replies

The heater blower, part no 1K2820015D, has been playing up on the car for a while now and has not been starting when the car is started. It was erratically doing this at first but has since become nearly everytime I start the car that the heater blower does not come on. Generally I have been getting it to work by putting the air on a high setting and giving the heater blower component a bit of hard slap and that has worked and the blower has stayed on and worked fine for the rest of that journey and I just repeated this process for each journey unless on the odd occasion it started normally itself. However recently even if I have got it to start it might cut out mid journey now which for me is the final straw and I need to get it sorted.

Just wondering what are people's thoughts are on what the problem is and if replacing the heater blower with the replacement part of 1K2820015E (I don't think you can get the D version anymore) will fix it.

Hello,

Just thought I would provide an update on this as I sorted the issue a few weeks ago, removed the blower unit and the carbon brushes were worn down so they were no longer making contact with the electrodes, I replaced the whole blower unit with a second hand one which I purchased off ebay (I compared carbon brushes with the one being thrown out and there was much more on the one I purchased it even though it was second hand) and it worked no problem.
