Fuse with radio behaviour

Anyone know where in the fuse box I can get power that is switched the same as the radio, rather than ignition on?

If you're running something quite small like a phone charger or dash cam get yourself one of those piggyback fuse holders and use something like the heated seats fuse. That's the one I used (although I don't have heated seats) and it's definitely a switch live. Plus there's plenty of power available on that one to power the heated seats.

Just re-read what you meant... I don't think there will be any like that. The only reason the stereo works the way it does is that it's got a permanent live then the car computer tells it when to switch on and off.

Pants, I thought that might be the case. I assume the interior lights / dash also sense key out or locked also then via the computer.

For a hands free kit I'd probably just take a feed from a switched live in the interior fuse box.

That's what I have just now, but it's annoying me that I can't park up with the engine off and continue a call.

Couple of options that might work.

 

Pull your headunit out and see if it has any connections for switching an external amp on/off, if it has then check it with a multimeter to see if that'll do the job.

 

Otherwise, you need to find the key sense wire. I've not looked for this on an Octavia but there are various posts about it on VW forums. If you can post a picture of the PR code sticker in the boot or manual of your car I can try and find it on the wiring diagrams I have.
