Button issues, lock button, ok button

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I've got a couple of issues with my mk2 octavia,

The Wiper Stalk OK/Reset button for the trip computer, it's getting increasingly difficult to get this to flip between trip 1 and 2 pressing the button is starting to cycle through the current trip information (same as pressing the up button on the end of the stalk). Do you think a new / second hand stalk will fix this?

Secondly the lock / unlock button in the center console near the hand brake only locks the car, pressing the unlock side of the switch also locks the car, will a new / second hand switch solve this, or is it a known wiring problem?

the courtesy lights in the boot also don't come on when the tailgate is raised. reading else where this looks to be a wiring / connector problem, I don't think it's related to the other faults but just to be safe.

Thank softscoop I'll give that a go, brb

I've had some issues with the central locking although not excatly as you described- mine locks and unlocks constantly as I drive along

Are you able to view any fault codes?

I would recommend removing the central locking switch from the centre console and cleaning the internal contacts with some electrical contact cleaner

Also, there is a switch at the back of the ignition barrel that can cause issues with central locking- Im actually swapping mine over for a new part (1KO905865 B) next week, but that may be worth looking into also?

well the brb comment was foiled by the mrs and a shopping trip :(

The ok / reset button has started working again, so high hopes for taking it apart tomorrow.

I'm guessing the lock button has had a drink spilt on it at some point due to it's location

I checked to fault codes on tuesday when when i reset the airbag light after taking the glovebox out to fix the blower fan. nothing of interest. I'll keep switch behind the ignition barrel in mind, Thanks for your input
