Another hatchback question

Featured Replies

Cleaned the Octavia today all gleaming now, went to close the boot/hatch and it will not stay shut :dull: . Opened again and shut it with a bit of force still not shut, looked on here and found topics like "cannot open boot" but nothing for my problem. When I lock it with the remote I can still open the boot with not a lot of force so the car is not secure . I have had the bottom trim off exposing the solenoid thing and everything looks ok, I had the trim off a bit on the boot door/lid and things look ok there as well, I have given both parts a squirt of silicon spray....still the same.....When I shut the drivers door with the windows up the boot pops..........Any ideas Please ??

I knew I shouldn't have cleaned the car

Have you checked the solenoid with a meter it might be that it is not receiving power.

Cheers Mate, I do not have a meter so I reckon it will be a garage trip tomorrow, just seems so strange to happen so suddenly :dull:

Have you tried unlocking/opening boot via the key fob and then closing the boot?

That is the only way I can unlock/lock as I don't have a keyhole

yes but one button unlocks doo + boot, the other just the boot.  Maybe worth trying both?

Thanks for the replies, took it to the garage that I always use this morning, after a bit of adjusting and investigation the top lock is knackered, evidently Golfs,Audi's and Passats are known to all suffer the same lock failure, ordered and will be fitted lunchtime.....£30 fitted
