4x4 jolt. Scout-Tiguan drivetrain?

Featured Replies

I'm getting rid of my 2015VW Tiguan and going back to a Skoda Octavia -this time a new Scout.

On my manual Tiguan the car would jolt occasionally when being reversed slowly to the left . VW had it in on numerous occasions but found no fault. What they did find was that it was a characteristic of the model as other cars have it. They don't know what is causing it.

My query is about the Scout drive train and is it the same as Tiguan? I hope it isn't because I couldn't put up with the phenomenon and the dreaded electric handbrake. Cost me money and I hope the change is worth it.

Anyone know if the two vehicles share the same drive train or had any problems with the 4x4 setup?

I never experienced anything like that with the 4th gen Haldex.

I would imagine that the drivetrains have very similar mechanicals e.g. haldex5 but different length propshaft etc. but probably subtly different software

Now on my second Scout, first 2010 FL & now 2014 Scout III & never experienced anything like that either.

I've not noticed this on my Tiguan, albeit it is a DSG.

What didn't you like about the electric handbrake as I consider it a plus feature to have in the car?

Thanks for responses. I didn't like electric handbrake because it was a bit hit and miss towing.

As far as the jolt VW don't have an answer. Mine could be dramatic at times as if a calliper was sized and freeing off.

Tiguan good to drive but not vey economical.

The 2015 Tiguan will be running haldex 4 - which is what I have and never noticed this (and I reverse off our drive every day as you describe).

The Octavia will be running a fifth gen setup - fairly different mechanically since the Americans bought it from the Swedes. Both capabale enough systems and shouldnt give the issue you have noticed.

Question: Have you actually tried another identical Tiguan yourself?
