VRS DSG Problems

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I've recently noticed that I'm having issues with the odd number gears when changing up and down. When changing up from even to odd gears it feels like the gear doesn't drop in straight away, similar to that in a manual car where it feels like slipping the clutch. Similarly on down changes to odd gears they're rougher than previous times. I've tried to assess it from cold to a fully warmed engine and it doesn't make too much of a difference. It's currently fairly intermittent but soon gets annoying when it's very prevalent. Any ideas?

Cheers

Ben

How old a car and how many miles,

and has it required and had the Service Campaign work on the DSG,

Oil Changed to Mineral & a Software Update?

It's just come up to 37,000 miles today. Was bought back in May from main Skoda dealer. Very recent service and full MOT. I'd imagine it's had all recent software updates etc

Oh and it's a 2011

If it has there should be a sticker in the boot showing the Service Campaign work was done.

As it is you probably need the Mechatronics Control Unit checked.

Also have a Master Tech drive it incase it is the Clutch Packs.

Maybe look at the post on vRS Recall and use the VIN Checker and see if it shows a 'Recall' Required.

EDIT.

here it is.

I've checked the vin check and it's not being expected for a recall.

Ok thanks for you help mate. I will get it booked in then if that's the case.

As well as that, be sure the car got new Spark Plugs at the last Service,

or before that.

Do not assume they were changed, you want to see a Receipt / Work sheet, or it on the Skoda Computer System.

If nothing says they were done you need to check all 4 out of the engine.

Best they are checked anyway.

Pop it in for diags. In my experience 7-spd DSG box does need to be reset every so-often, it goes into a relearn cycle and is then nice and smooth again - had mine done only today.

Be quick though, I've heard that VAG group dealerships might have a bit of work to do on diesels soon....

How much does it cost to go in for a Reset of the DSG?

& how old is your car?

Warrantee for me George.

Very odd,

how many times has it needed that, and how old is your car, and miles covered?

18 months in this case. A bit lumpy in first, probably my bad driving taking it's toll :)

mine occasionally sounds like its slipping clutches.... but its always sounded like that for 50k.... and never given a problem (always harder changes in manual at full tilt) but slurry in D ..

a characteristic? mine has always been like that , so i haven worried about it...

Mine was initially smoother than it has been and does seem to be getting more noticeable especially giving it full beans.
