Premium wlan and phone box vs wifi and phone box

Featured Replies

Hi

Can any one tell me the difference between these please? wifi and phone box is a free no cost option on a se business I have ordered, but heard the car might not ship with this due to it coming available next year?

I think the 'phone box' has a passive aerial built in which is connected to the roof aerial and gives a boost to the signal coming in by a stated 20%. The radio signal is an inductive connection rather than a physical one so just how well it will work in reality remains to be seen, and will vary by phone and even which way up the phone is placed on it.

The premium WLAN option means you can add a SIM card of your choice and that will be part of the on board car phone with a physical connection to the roof aerial.

It's the "wireless charging" phone box that will not be available until next year. The wifi (signal boost) and LTE (sim card) options are available now.

Interestingly (to me anyway) I noted this morning that both phone box options are now 'greyed out' on the car configurator. Only the Premium WLAN with LTE could be chosen.

They are back now.
