Audio Questions

Featured Replies

Hi again.

I have a 55 plate black magic fabia vrs. The OEM audio is adequate but lacking in real ooomph. Is there any way to fit an amplifier to the current head unit? I dont really want to change the head unit as i like the way it fits nicley and the simple look is auite appealing. I was wondering whether t would be poss to 1) fit an autochanger and 2) fit an amp.

Any replies greatly appreciated.

The autochanger should be no problem, just ask at your dealer for the parts and fit it yourself.

However an amplifier is slightly more tricky as there is no dedicated pre-out on the head unit. I think you can buy an adapter which coverts the autochanger control to a pre-out, but I guess that would mean you couldn't have an amp and a changer? I could be comically mistaken though!

Just get a nice aftermarket head unit, I love my Pioneer 7700MP (Now under

Oh yeah...Nagamichi...very nice...but very very expensive too :) You can get the slimmest car jukebox in the world from them, but then all you'll need to do is drop your pants and run the Terry Fox run before you can actually get it.

Answer to both questions is "yes". I also have a BM 55 plate vRS. OEM h/u is the single slot Skoda Symphony CD-tuner. My car came with the CD-changer which fits under the passenger seat. I've since had an amp and front speakers fitted.

There are three mini-ISO connectors on the back of the h/u (in a line, top-right, looking at the back of the h/u. The pre-outs are the leftmost of the three, the CD-changer cable plugs into the rightmost.

If you're DIYing, you can get pre-out adapters from Blue spot online amongst others.

you would also need to consider upgrading the speakers as the oem ones won't put up with to much punishment. and how about a subwoofer?
