Dpf to turbo gasket leak

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anyone changed the dpf gasket between it and the turbo.

It's leaking and very noticeable when the car goes into the regen cycle.

I'm looking at replacing it myself but only if it's doable?

I've already done an initial assessment and can see if have to remove the heat shield on top of the dpf to give more access especially as the V band has the key/bolt from the back!!!!

I was considering removing v band putting new gasket on with exhaust silicone.

Any thoughts experience appreciated.

Update

Well managed to get V band off, surprisingly the bolt was loose so hoping that maybe the reason it's leaking.

Had to use a long screwdriver and rubber mallet to knock off bottom curve of V band.

I'm trying a high temp silicone gasket first, so smeared some over edge as best I can access and then cleaned V band and smeared the inside of the band.

Refitted the band this time with bolt facing me to allow easy access. H5 hex key

Will leave overnight for the silicone to go off and we'll see how it goes.

From what I've read to do a proper gasket replacement I'd have to raise the car and undo DPF from underneath.

So fingers crossed this will do the trick or it might be a garage job.

Well I'm a month in and I'm happy to report the fix worked.

It's made a big difference during the regen process, much quicker.

Interesting to see how well the silicone lasts.
