Good idea or bad given that we are supposed to be having a real winter this year ?

even the supermarkets sell snow chains here

a total git to put on and remember 50% reduction in speed and no motorway

IMHO winter m & s tyres wouldnt make much of an improvement

1) cost

2) extra noise from chunky tread blocks

3) much higher wear rate ( softer compound )

better of making sure that you regular tyres have plenty of tread on them .. after all, the world famous gritting teams should be out in force if its gonna be a bad winter!
