Warning lights.

Featured Replies

Hello all hoping someone can help, came he last night and the warning light for a bulb out came on. Not had time to replace but think it's a fog lamp on rear. Got up this morning and my asr light on and won't turn off. Also little car on dash.

Then the ecp light came on when I tried to drive the car would only drive tick over speed. I turned it all off then on again. I managed to turn car back around and the little engine light cam on as well so I parked up and left it. Prior to this I've had probs with rear calipers sticking on. And the first garage I took it to replaced them twice and were yanking things. I then took it to Jennings who replaced the caliper hangers as there was play and that's sorted now. Just thought I would mention as I read about asr sensors on wheels causing probs. it's on a 55 plate. It's a 1.6fsi I think. Any help or anyone localish I'm in South south a Tyne and Wear many thanks.

Just read about limp mode is that when the car drives ok but with restricted revs and power?

You really need to find someone with VCDS that can scan the car and read the fault codes.

The EML (Engine Management Light) can signal a number of different faults so it is very difficult to diagnose without the fault codes.

Once you have them you can reference them here...

If the car is in limp home mode then there will definitely be a fault logged on the cars computer.

Try replacing the bulb* to see if this at least clears the blown bulb warning, one less orange light to deal with!

*note that the Octavia only has one working rear foglight (drivers side) so it is normal for the offside (passenger) side not to light up.

If you have time to spare (doesn't sound like it if the car is already in limp home mode) then you can download an App for your smartphone called Carista.

Buy a Bluetooth OBC adaptor online that plugs into the car (just above your feet) and you can read your own codes for less than a tenner...

And thanks for your quick replies silver

That is the non-working fog light so it can't be that bulb - the fog light is only on the right (drivers) side.

When you say 'off' do you mean completely off or that it doesn't work as a fog light?

The reason I ask is because the bulb is dual function, tail and fog.

You should get a full 'C' shape of tail lights, but only the lower section on the drivers side cluster will get brighter when the rear fogs are turned on...

Brighter rear fog light turned ON here...
