Lock screen message if lost. Android.

Featured Replies

Is there an app where I can have my contact details on my lock screen? If I loose my phone without any details of who's it is its lost for good. Also you never know I might be in an accident and my phone is the only way of identifying who I am. Seams a bit over the top but you never know lol

On mine I have the ability to post a message. It's a scrolling one, where I set it escapes me, it's more for if I lost my phone as it's my email which no-one else gets, apart from google ;)

There was a SOS app, but it didn't work last time I tried it. On the old feature phones it was common to set an ICE contact, of course 'smart' phones can't access this.

This came up a few weeks back as a guy we were out with climbing fell. Now we all knew who he was, but not 'who' he was. Trying to get an unlock code out of some one with concussion on a layby in the moors is not easy.

I went home and got a sticker and stuck it to my phone back. My phone is in a opaque case. It has a basic contact and my name. It would be a shock to the contact, but better than nothing.

You could set your background, but this is a bit of a faff and reminder of imminent doom.

Oh yeah just found the scrolling option under security. That might be enough

Make sure you have installed android device manager, and that you have backup set (especially for pictures)

Set a passcode or pattern lock, and best advice is to encrypt your device and any memory cards (if yours has one). Stops any personal data being stolen

My Xperia running lollipop has the option to enter an ICE contact, which then shows up at the bottom of the lock screen.

Write a message using pen & paper, take a photo of it and use that Jpeg as the lock screen photo.

Simple,  cheap and VERY easy.   :)
