Polo GTI

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I'm looking at getting myself a Polo GTI, as a replacement for my Citigo. A couple of reasons - I quite like the car, want something more powerful than the Citigo, and happen to be in a position to get a friends and family discount at my local dealer. However, I'm very conscious that the assembled company of Briski has more knowledge than I, so I'd appreciate any input anyone can give!

Thanks in advance,

Mac

I had one for a short while the new 1.8 it was quick but I prefer my Fiesta ST to be honest. The Polo is a cracking car, looks amazing and has a really nice interior.

Options of 3 or  5 dr and DSG or manual. At a price.

Sorry Black 5 door manual

Alternative coming with the Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.8 TSI Manual 3 Door.

Just the price of it to be seen yet.

Maybe more of a competitor to the Fiesta ST if the Seat is light enough & handling sorted.

I doubt that very much. Drive a Fiesta ST it is awesome. SEATS interiors are shocking, bland and bad quality scratchy plastic.

For the OP, do not hesitate if you want the GTI go for it it is a sorted little car, fast and fun. Good luck!

I do not drive manuals.

I have been driven in Fiesta ST's though.

They are fine and like you people like them, and people get shot not long after they are a bit hard but then thats where the handling comes from.

Its all a matter of Horses for courses i suppose.

Nippy and they handle, it is just with the Ford you only get manuals and no option.

If Ford offered the 5 door in the Uk as in the US then more might opt for them.

First the polo,then the Seat

Can see a fab vrs before long. :)

I'm fairly settled on a GTI now - in no small part as a Fiesta ST will only come in 3 door, which I'd rather avoid with the amount of gear I lug around for work.

The decision now is do I get the side curtain airbags for 650, and red or white!

Just ordered Polo myself. White 3 door for under £200 a month on 2 year deal. Delivery 1st March.

Phwoar that's a wait and a bit! I had one dealer reckon 12 weeks, another say 16 and another say 20... I'll be planning for 20!

The wait is at my request to a degree. Officially 14 weeks on a factory order. If you want one now, I know that Parway in Derby have a few in stock. In my case, I want a shiny new car coming out of winter rather than going into one :)

The Polo was a no brainer for me.

Skoda aren't doing anything to float my boat at the moment.

Last 2 Seat dealers I've visited have been really rude.

I like a bit of exclusivity, and every other Fiesta you see these days seems to be an ST. Certainly probably evidence for how good a car it is. I also promised myself I'd never have another Ford (since an XR2 in the early 90s).

That's a fair shout! Yeah, have been slightly put off by the other competitors...

Brought the Mrs a Polo Gti when the new model first came out in March. Went for a 5 door dsg in White and we love it. It was to replace her Cooper S and it is better by far. Plus the dsg 'fart' is always a hoot in small side streets! One downside is that the Gti has the battery in the boot so doesn't come with the adjustable boot floor and boot space is limited as it is set in the 'highest' position. I'm sure you'll love it if you get one!

Order placed this afternoon! Yeah boot space will probably be irritating, but hey ho!

What colour and spec?

Well done,enjoy.

Hope your wait is not too long.

Gone for white. Specced most of it to be fair, kinda got a little carried away...

I went for white too. I've been there before with options lists and restrained myself this time. Performance pack was a must and got the parking pack just to get cruise but the camera is a nice bonus. Only putting a grand yp front so wanted to keep payments under £200pcm

Under £200/month with only £1k down on a 2-yr deal? That's impressive! How much discount did you get to pull that off?

Just leased it in the end. Loved the experience, no BS trying to sell you Gap and Lifeshine etc.
