A Volvo S60 T5 v's a E46 M3 Cab ?

300hp turbo 2.5 with a chip outgunning a 343hp peaky n/a six ... not that much fo a surprise but still an eye opener when you think the same basic lump is in the Focus ST for 17.5 k....................

 - I don't even think the guy in the Volvo was trying all that hard, he just planted it and left :D

i think the m3 would be quicker round a track but then i think the focus chipped would be quicker than the m3 round a tight track... cos lets face it we know that certain Octy vRS's could have M3's even GT3's round a short track.

It is a T5, not an R. It has a 2.3 with 250 hp and weighs 1500 kg's. M3 weighs 1700 kg's with 343 hp. So there is a little difference, but yeah, extracting 100 more HP from the Volvo is easily done, and the M3 is just a lard ****

this bodes even better for a broker discounted 15k Focus ST then...

if its not an R its a 2.3 IIRC the R is 2.5 unless the later std ones are 2.5?

Almost, the latest t5's are 2.4, the focus uses a 2.5 LPT which is a bit different to the 2.5R. In a focus it should be awesome though, and i imagine 400-450hp is quite achievable without going too mad :)

Wow. Bring on the Focus ST.

3 years down the line ****'s will own this Focus and be pushing 350 bhp. It's a bit silly considering it's only going to be group 16/17 insurance.

I'll be suprised if that was a std. S60 T5 (250 bhp) or even R version (300 bhp) as Autocar road tests figures tell a different storey even with the extra lard of a M3 cab.

Volvo T cars are effortless though as I used to own one. Shame that they don't corner too well! Not many aftermarket stuff in the UK when I enquired

If you have a look at Volvot5.co.uk you will find a fan base and all the tuning requirements you need. At the end of the day they never will be an M3 beater' date=' as each manufacturer has a different agenda. But it is amusing when you do see things like that, as there are many M3 drivers, and other similar high performance car drivers, that feel they have the fastest cars in the world [subaru'] and for a Volvo to knock it down a peg or two MAKES ME LAUGH

must admit to nearly buying a C70 2.4T but went for the octy instead... some of the new models they are producing are very nice though.

That's what I always liked about the Volvo, ultimate pipe and slippers car in S60 / S70 T5 and also S40 T4! Wolf in sheeps clothing!

It is funny when you see some faces in fast cars being left behind! That's why I love my Skoda

I remember when I owned the M3, a Skoda Octy vRS was egging me on for a race and as he floored it, I could easily tell it was modded

As I caught him up, I give him a thumbs up. When we both floored it from a roundabout, I was impressed with his speed as it was only marginally slower than me. No silly antics, I just caught him up and then stayed behind for a while.

I wonder if there was a thread about it on here a couple of years ago "I blew away an M3 in my Octy" :D

The Scoob would have it in the Twisties and in the wet ... at least that's what I read on Scoobynet :rofl::rofl:
