Help with single din after-market audio.

Featured Replies

Hi,

This is my first post, so big hello, and if i ask some stupid questions please bear with me :)

I have Octavia 55 plate with stream audio (Climatronic, maxi-dot). I am planning to replace it with sony cdx-gt450U (not the latest thing but I just removed it from previous car and don't want to spend on new HU at the moment). Now the questions i have

What sort of parts I will need (i have searched the forum so i might have slight clue)

1) do I need adapter/cable (also i would like to retain steering wheel controls)

2) Sony HU is single din, any recommendation for fascia

Is generic parts are good enough or should i go for genuine Skoda parts (if there are please provide the part no if possible), the car is in mint condition I don't want to mess up the look of interior (apart from single din HU) :)

Any suggestion/help/advice is welcome.

Thank you

I'd recomend Skoda parts to start with.

The list of bits i'd recomend you get are as follows:

Single din adaptor kit from skoda (make sure they supply the correct facia adaptor)

Quad block loom adaptor which also turns the canbus signal into a switched live.

You will be looking at around the £120 mark

Hey Ryan,

Thanks for quick reply. from the link you posted i believe "Connects2 CTSSK002.2 CAN-Bus steering control adaptor" is the correct thing, i might just email car-audio and make sure as well.

Thanks

i think it is yes.

If you email cad they are pretty good with replying and giving as much info as you need.

I went direct to connects2 to make sure but cad should be able to help too.

You can get the bits cheaper but the skoda kit is a single piece unit for the headunit to sit in and a single din sized cubby hole. They also include aerial wiring, facia trim (make sure you get the right one as there are loads). So a lot of stuff for the £80
