Just had my vrs written off and insurance have offered me £3900, which wont put me in anything like a similar car. So currently doing the dance with insurance to prove it needs to be more.

 

To save on hassle, I'd like to get back into an Octavia as that means I can swap everything over like rubber mats, boot liner, rear windows/windscreen blinds and roof mounted bike rack over.

 

Now the stupid side of me says that not going into another vrs isn't "car progress" i.e something less powerfull (sad I know) The GF has said that as we have a 6 month old, to go for something that is cheaper to run (fuel, tax and insurance)

 

The standard Octavia doesn't float my boat. The interior looks so dark and bland. I looked at Fabia estates, but unsure if its big enough to fit a child seat and buggy and still have a bit of space for shopping etc.

 

Anyone have any suggestions or comments on the standard Octavia or Fabia estate that wold keep me in the VAG group?

 

Looking at petrol (do less that 7000 miles a year and lots of short journeys) manual and needs to be big enough for 2 adults and 6 month old with associated bits.

 

Is it sad that as I write this I'm pining for my lost vrs?

I carry a mobility scooter in the rear of my Fabia hatch, with room for groceries.But I did have problems a couple of years ago (before scooter was needed), with GS pushchair,as the rear wheel arches limit the internal width. For child seats, Fabia's have had th isofix system .

True. I was assuming around the same price area.

Yeah also true. But you pay alot for the badge with an audi. You dont want to be paying for a badge if youre only paying £4k to start with imo.

If I was to get a non vrs Octavia, which would be the one to get? Never even knew they did a 1.4 turbo. Most I've seen on autotrader don't have much of a spec to them.
