Octavia FL 170 VRS CR Emissions 'cheat' - Anyone else in the same boat?

Featured Replies

Hey all

Received a wonderful letter from Skoda UK this morning detailing that my vehicle has the EA189 diesel which will require rectification. Apparently, mine being the 2.0 TDI means it's just a software upgrade. This led me to believe this may affect my Shark stage 1 remap so did a little bit of further digging.

I contacted Shark who kindly took the time to advise me and stated that they are aware of this and will reinstate my map 'free of charge'. I think that's very fair considering the circumstances. My concern is however (Shark were unable to comment), will this raise issues with Skoda when they come to do the repair work as it will be quite obvious (I'd at least imagine) that it's already had the ECU removed? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has this concern or for that matter, do I even need be concerned?

Also, I found that VAG has set aside money for compensation. Is this something that I'd be entitled to or am I just being silly?

Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.

Probably best to post this in the main emissions thread?
