Amundsen: Will NAV work if SD card has music on it

Featured Replies

The Amundsen has its Nav data stored on a SD card. If you take the card out of its slot and put another SD card in with your music on, do you lose the NAV function?

Assuming it is an Amundsen rather than the Amundsen+ and that you maps are v5 or newer then yes, you will need the map SD card in to retain the nav function.

However, you can add mp3's to the map SD card to get both. It should have around 3gb available.

If you're running earlier maps, v4 and older, these come on cd so you can have the map CD in and have an SD with only music on.

Thanks for the info.

I currently have a Columbus in a Superb. I am awaiting delivery of a new (MY16) Octavia SEL, does this have Amundsen or Amundsen+ and what is the difference?

Whats the latest version of maps to have been released

It seems strange that if you want the satnav function working you cannot have music via either SD card or CD player

Oh, I assumed you were looking at the older Amundsen (RNS-310) rather then the new style MIB. The above doesn't apply to the newer units as they are completely different units despite having the same name...

Anyway, I haven't had much experience with the MIN units but I believe they have two SD card slots, one for nav and one for music so that shouldn't be a problem. Info on the new maps can be found below:

I have a Seat Leon with the Seat equivalent of the Amundsen. It isn't as fast as the older Amundsen by the way. My version (model year 2015) has two SD slots and a MDI (with USB and old Apple leads). One of the SD slots needs the Navigation SD card but the other is free for you. I believe MY 2016 cars have one SD and a USB. I believe that the map info is already loaded onto the navigation unit.

So if MY2016 have the map info pre-loaded I assume no SD card will come with car when it is delivered.

How  are map updates loaded onto the Amundsen unit  if you have no special Skoda card?
