Is it possible...car software?

Featured Replies

To get hold of software that contains all software (exactly like VCDS/VAGCOM) for all makes & models of car?

Some more advanced diagnostic equipment can do more than just VAG models, but I doubt any one package has the ability to code every single make and model of car as every manufacturer does things differently.

Unless you're just talking diagnostic code reading?

What im after is something that will allow me to play with the car settings so im guessing that's module coding?  So i will need individual software which will cost a pretty penny.

We use bosh KTS  at work after lots of trials on other systems it was found to be the best all round ,

you can activate options on most vehicles lights, locking, and some immobaliser and key functions,

as well as actuator tests and manual over ride on some functions ,

but not all vehicles have all functons.

This is what im after...even to check if certain cars have functions. where could i find said software?

It's not just a piece of software you can just download and use with a VCDS or similar cable.

Diagnostic equipment like that is a hardware+software solution that is not cheap.

:x :x

Any solution won't be cheap. You also need to be careful as you can easily screw up someone's car unless you know what you are doing.

Is this for a hobby?

Unless youre opening your own garage.. Is it really worth £1500-£2000? Lol.

Yeah I suppose, and yeah i've seen vagcom that looked slightly complicated.  No just a thing as nine times out of ten at car meets that I attend I overhear people are saying that they'd like to check etc. :)

Probably not. lol.

If you're wanting to do basic coding and fault code reading, then an OBD adapter and Carista app is probably your best bet.

Would that work on majority of the cars not just VAG?

It works on a fair few yes.

If you want something that costs £50 and will code and diagnose all vehicle makes then I think you're out of luck, as otherwise something like that would be snapped up by garages, and there wouldn't be a market for £2000 diagnostic equipment.
