Stereo advice

Trying to install a kenwood single din head unit. Thought I had all the correct fittings etc but can't get radio reception. Any experts on here able to tell me if this antenna booster looks to be the wrong one. I've a feeling it is as it looks like I need a male one.

Can't really tell without seeing the back of your radio and your car aerial lead. I reckon you probably need a PC5-90

I've ordered one from bass junkies, that's exactly what I need mate. I'll hardly get it until next week now but it will give me a chance to get the bit behind the dash etc cut out to give space for the new harnesses

Looks broken to me, this is your pic zoomed in, there should be a pin in the female bit here and it appears to be gone. In fact, its definitely broken, just compare it to the same female plug in actual car.

It's fine to use that type with a bullet connector but you can just get the male version anyway. I bought this one last week and it was delivered the next day on free delivery worked perfectly. I have an additional harness adaptor as well as this etc in there and it all fits fine, when putting it back in I feed the iso plugs to the top left where there is a gap and all slid straight in, I let the booster sit to the back and down.

That's what I initially thought but then thought it was just me ordering the wrong part. Looking at it zoomed in it definitely does look broken. I've got one the same as yours ordered and should be here tomorrow fingers crossed.

I put the blue connector into the power iso plug thing into slot 5 on this diagram:

^ Probably best to use slot 4 as the booster is meant to be wired to a switched ignition live not a permanent live which is what 5 is.

Slot 5 is only powered when the stereo is on, which is when you want the booster. Don't need it when ignition is on but stereo isn't.

Well my new booster arrived earlier, wired it all up. Plugged it into number 5 as stated above. Still getting crackling through the speakers and complete loss of signal at some points. Is it possible that the aerial base on the roof could be knackered. I've already changed the actual antenna with no success. And to top it off my rear doors seem to be leaking now

Very high possibility of the base being corroded inside and the amplifier not working yes. Replacements are cheap of ebay

Yea that would appear to be the next step sadly. The leaky doors is something you will find guides on easily on the forum and even how to videos on YouTube.

Ah, cheers for that :)
