Think I've made a mistake even though I've got proof

Featured Replies

Well chaps I haven't been here for a while, beginning of the year anyway when I had a mk2 octy tdi....I've now got...

An Audi A4 2.0 tdi but with the dreaded blb engine but with a receipt for £1700 for the oil pump ect ect upgrade/repair but to be honest I'm still scared. I'm seriously thinking of either selling it (which will be VERY hard to do) and get another octy or put a bkp ect engine in and keep it till it falls apart

I really like the car in general though and drives great...but this is on my mind now all the time

Just drive it, enjoy it, get value out of it, and service it properly.

Correct Oil, Correct filters.

The VW BKP code engine has oil drive and injector issues. Google VW BKP and see what comes up. I had a BKP engine from new and to be fair I had no issues except fuel pump failure in 146k, but I think I was one of the lucky ones.

You're thinking of the blb one (that's what's in mine) the one you mentioned is seemingly fine

BKP was certainly not fine. Had many recalls early in it's life and later required VOSA enforcement to rectify injector issues.

A4 engine codes are different due to the longitudinal layout

Oh right....and yet on the Audi forums I'm sure it's said that the bkp ect are the ones to get, not the blb. Like I say though despite it been fixed I'm still wary plus it's the noisiest diesel engine I've heard and had. I don't think the pump ect broke then was fixed, it was a preventative fix before it happened, so the seller said

Do I believe him...

What made you buy it if you are so full of doubt, was it not noisy when you road tested it.?

Are you seriously considering changing the engine with some unknown engine you are going to source incase yours gives up?

If you can replace engines, then just get the one you need when you need it, if ever.

If you sell you, what line are you going to use with prospective buyers.?

'I bought this, i can not trust the previous owner, so i am selling it, but trust me, it is a really good car'.

It was quieter when I went to see it, not much but a bit, unless it's the way that engine is but I've heard the same car and engine a couple of nights ago and was noticeably quieter than mine. I was at Wilson323 yesterday getting codes read, he said too it sounds noisy, not broken noisy just noisy but there's a code v157 (p3103) the intake mani flap (part of egr) so unless that's causing I'm not sure

Have you done a Oil & Filter change since you got the car, or know what oil is in the engine now?
