license plate LED

Featured Replies

So... one of the LED's has failed on the left hand side of my license plate.  I have checked a few posts here and there for what I need to replace it with but I seem to be getting mixed messages.  I have a 61 Octavia VRS

I somehow came across these -

But the sizes seem to be different to what others have suggested - i.e, 36mm, 34mm but these are 42mm

I could measure them but I'm not sure if it's the length of the LED or the entire part.   Can anyone clarify what I need please?

Thanks Mike, really helpful.  Will dig in to this more when I get off work!  :)

Change these lamps is piece of cake :) Just but quick-connectors, isolate them and... done :)

You could bodge it like I, and a few others, have done. Use standard LED festoon s and solder w5w bulb holders and put halogen w5w in the holders. Works a treat, no errors or flickering issues

I brought the ones from superskoda had them a year and still going very strong expensive but we'll worth it looks the TDB ;-)

Do you have a night time picture of it? They do look quite good on the link. Are they pure white like OEM ones on newer cars? I always seem to find the eBay leds have a slight blue tinge (approx 6000k) despite saying "pure white", whereas OE ones appear to be closer to 5000k colour temp

They are pure white... I shall take a picture tonight so you can see

Looks so bright the plate can hardly be read!

Never realised there were so many options to replace a single LED  :D

I've seen loads of cars fitted with super bright LED licence plate lights and I'd agree that they make seeing the plate even harder rather than easier... they don't really light up a lwider area compared to standard bulbs and not only that they're so obtrusive and almost like having two white lights pointing out the rear of the vehicle not to mention the reflection off the rear bumber etc
