Pre-test:

Choose you favourite CD track, set bass and treble as you would normally have them, fade totally to rear, slowly increase volume to maximum before distortion. Note down this volume.

Tools required:

Small flat screwdriver.

Philips (crosshead) screwdriver.

10mm socket \ spanner.

20 torx driver.

Remove the parcelshelf, fold the rear seat backs forward.

Left hand side:

Remove the two visible crosshead screws. One is recessed where the parcelshef "latches" into when closed. The other is recessed where the parcelshelf is mounted into.

Open the CD changer cover door.

Remove the two 10mm plastic nuts.

There are now 2 crosshead screws to remove, one at either end of the trim, both "behind" the adjacent trim.

You can now remove the trim, be sure to disconnect the speaker connectors before totally removing.

Lay the trim face down across the boot. Use the torx drive to remove the speaker cone and plastic "spacer" ring.

The felt will be visible where the cone was, it is spot glued, remove as much as you can, ensure all "slots" are clear from end to end with a small flat screwdriver.

Reverse the above instructions and refit.

(feel free to do a sound test at this point, fade totally to rear, then roll balance left to right.)

Right hand side:

Remove the two visible crosshead screws. One is recessed where the parcelshef "latches" into when closed. The other is recessed where the parcelshelf is mounted into.

Open the "cubbyhole" cover door.

Remove the single 10mm plastic nut.

Reverse the above instructions and refit.

Final test:

Repeat the pretest and note the volume the speakers start to struggle - it was a good 13 more on my standard symphony.
