Dashboard squeaks and rattles

Featured Replies

I have developed an irritating noise from the dash. Before resorting to the hassle of booking it in for a warranty fix - are there any DIY thoughts?

Me too!

Spray the area between the clocks and around the silver moulding with silicone polish.

I'm coming down to Falmouth early next week!

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

We actually live near Truro, 10 miles up the road, but I grew up in Falmouth. I hope the weather is kind for your stay.

Staying in St Ives to see our daughter, but I've promised my self a trip down the Falmouth branch line.

CRC Silicone 'dry lube' applied with the 'straw' attached ......one of those 'must have' products for me.

Don't get it on anything you handle though (brake pedal etc), it's deadly slippery.

Any 'high st' sellers or will it have to be an on line purchase?

It's a hardware and auto store product.

There are plenty examples of it on Amazon (and as the BBC would say - there are other suppliers).

I used four black felt pads and pushed them into the gaps between the clocks and the dash. This stopped the rattling for me.

Other rattles were stopped by lining the armrest cubby hole with felt sheets plus I also felt lined the recess in the roof where the magnetic seatbelt sits.

Pretty annoying for a new car, but I really like it in all other respects.

Brylcream 'a little dab'll do ya'......silicone, that is

I get nagged for not putting my hearing aids in all the time but it has it's benefits as well :giggle:

Pardon?

How old is your Yeti?

If it is relatively new , more mileage will fit everything into place.

If not new,our fellow members advice is really helpful.

6 months old and 5500 miles. Squeaks started about a month ago but now totally fixed with the silicone lube spray.
