Fuel gauge and predicted mileage drops

Any ideas what this could be? Dealer has applied 2 software updates with no success. They've found no faults and as far as they are concerned is normal. Obviously the time the mechanic tool it home for a couple of days the problem didn't occur. It's been happening from new. Recently the projected mileage and fuel gauge dropped from 580 to 340 miles in less than 30 miles. Driving me crazy. Sometimes I can drive with the needle on zero and expected mileage at 0 for days knowing I've got loads of diesel in the tank.

So the fuel gauge drops to zero as well ? and you took it to a main dealer as its still in warranty period?

I'd say there's a problem with the fuel tank sender unit myself.  If there's an electrical or mechanical issue, no amount of software updates will fix it!

I'd say find somewhere that knows how to look for a problem, rather than plug it into a computer and say "no fault found"..

Exactly yes. It's been in three times. No faults found. I've taken pictures of the drops before and after journeys and the MPG is so poor eg 7-10 MPG depending on how much the drop is. Not sure if you can post pictures on the forums? Generally the pattern is if I full up (the most I can ever seem to fill up is about 35 litres and it's a 50 litre tank I believe) and then it will drop from say 590 to 320 then stabilise and eventually after a few days drop to almost zero or zero. You can watch it drop in units of 5 or 10. It's great viewing I can tell you.

That sounds like a disaster and dealer needs to step up there. Three visits and no joy. Is there another Skoda service centre you could go to?

Yes there's another local dealer I could go to. To be fair to my usual dealer they've said to bring it back after a couple if weeks to check MPG performance.

As usually happens. The gauge / reading has settled at around 400 miles over the weekend on a couple of long journeys and is now operating normally. I'm just waiting for the next big drop
