2 small faults on a vRS estate

Featured Replies

Two faults suddenly appeared on my vRS estate on Tuesday night. The rear windscreen wiper has stopped working (but the washer is ok) and the rear windscreen heater also appears to have packed up (but the light stays permanently on if the sidelights are switched on).

It's still under warranty so I'll give my dealer a call, but just wondered if anyone had any ideas. I've checked the fuses and they look ok.

There will be a plug between tailgate and body, probably unplugged itself.

The washer is from the front bottle so wouldn't be affected?

Cheers Phil, I was beginning to wonder if the link between the tailgate and the car was the problem.

I have since been out in it and noticed that the dashboard lights come on if you switch the rear windscreen heater on (??) and they also do if you open the tailgate, also the boot light doesn't work. All seems to be related to what you have suggested.

I'll go out and give it a try

I think the connection is on the drivers side, near the lights at the back...Easily got at in the Combi. Deffo sounds like a loose connection or a dodgy ground.
