Boost guage in VRS

Featured Replies

Hi folks, as im going to get my Vrs remaped soon i thot iy might be a good idea to fit a guage in car jst to keep an eye and see if its boosting at correct presure after remap ect.... Jst wondering the best place to get a manifold reading from? And also what presure are you guys Vrs's runing boost wise

I tapped into the fuel pressure regulator as its one of the easiest to get to, top right of the fuel rail. Make sure the gauge you get does boost and vac as the vac reading is very helpful for noticing leaks as well. Stage one remap on mine and after s lot of replacement pipes it peaks at 20-21psi then drops as the revs climb. Vac at idle is just over 25" at hits the edge of the gauge sometimes on the overrun so nice and leak free

What should the Vac read at idle when engine is warm? Think I might have a leak even though its been smoke tested and boost leak tested.

Tapping the Boost gauge to the FPR is not a good idea. The gauge and readings will get interference from the pulsing of the FPR.

Best to T into the DV line or a separate nipple on the Inlet Manifold ..

hey Bowders, I never noticed any pulsing at all?  get a good solid boost and vac reading.. only issue I have is the crap halfrauds plastic T pieces dont last more than a year :D

i did put the T on the dumpvalve vacuum hose and that dont work at all,

it gets to much vacuum there and it just goes a tiny bit over the 0 when i have the moost boost and it gets sucked down almost to the bottom on idle

so im guessing that its from the FPR thats the best place to take the vacuum if it works better from there

and i have a brand new upgrade turbo so there is nothing wrong with my turbo

Just out of interest, where does the ecu read the boost from? I have a bluetooth obd dongle and use Torque, and it can make it show boost.

so we are unsure were the best place is to feed the boost gauge from, different opinions here. I havent looked yet, but were does the pipe come through the bulkhead into the interior.
