ECO tyre pressures

Featured Replies

Does anyone use the ECO tyre pressures, does it give better economy, is the ride too hard, less grip etc?

In my fuel filler flap on my 1.2 it says 2.1 bar normal and 2.4 for ECO.

You might notice a firmer ride and less grip, yes, but the difference might be negligible. Try it and see how you find it...only takes a minute to change back if you're not impressed. Personally I don't like the 'eco' pressures when I've tried them in the past.

I use the Eco pressure on my Yeti ,2.5 bar ( normal 2.1)

The ride seemed the same on it's Continental tyres and the turn in and Handling is very good.

I can't say about the economy because I've never driven at the lower pressures, but even if it's very small ,every little bit helps.

I've set my tyres at that and set the TPMS.

I'll see what its like.

I've got 3 passenger's and bags on Friday, so its needed for that anyway.

Also keep an occasional eye on the tyre wear.  Higher pressures may make them wear the central sections faster than the edges, if that looks to be happening then drop the pressure a bit.

I've run my vrs with pressure between 33 psi and 38 psi, more at the higher end. Had even wear on the tyres, didn't notice a difference in ride but did get a better fuel economy so I've stuck at 36 ish.  For my winter tyres I'll go back to 38
