2 seater Yeti

Featured Replies

I persuaded wifey to get the Yeti to replace our worn out estate car. But I'm not finding the Yeti as user friendly for load carrying. Ours is the 4X4 so we have that raised tray in the boot. My real issue is with the front. We may be planning some camping trips in Europe. I want to remove the 3 rear seats to save weight (My, they are soo heavy!). But then I am left with the possibility of the load pushing forwards into the Driver & passenger seats. also there is that step down.

I am asking if anybody uses their Yeti for 2 seater touring and is there an after market solution, like an add on rear bulkhead dog guard type of thing that can be fitted and easily removed. Is there a lightweight (foam) filler, shaped to fit the seat cavities to make the load space longer and level?

Even trips to the local refuse tip are harder re-configure when most of the time we only need 2 seats.

Thanks

Made a ply platform for the rear of mine, creating a small height area where the seats normally sit anthen 4 x legs to rest in the rear footwells - the platform had a small ply upstand about 12" high, that rested against the rear of the front seats, worked well when carrying large boxes containing model boats etc!

Thanks, I was wondering if anybody has found something aftermarket plug and play? If needs be I will have to go the DIY route. A modified wire mesh dog guard would be nice if I can fix it securely, then I can see through it in the rear mirror.

think not!

I have taken the back seats out for our summer holidays camping [small caravan] in France for the two years we have had the Yeti.

I have not had a problem with things moving around. I use a silicon rubber type antislip mat in the area where the seats usually are and sit stacker boxes in this area. The awning and poles lie across the top of these. Footwells are packed with various bits, usually wine boxes on the way back. In the boot I have a LEC table top fridge and a matching LEC table top freezer side by side. When away for 3+ weeks they are a godsend in 30+ temperatures.

Did that with my old car, for the yeti i am building an open ply box (for back seats up) that hinges down to protect the inside of the boot door and bumper. The front then folds forward for when the seats are down so it bridges the foot well. started it as need to move my BSA stationary engine and air compressor (overall 60Kg) occasionally and will protect the boot for moving logs or dump runs. Will ad pictures when i finish but will take some time as there are a lot of hinges and joints to fit the shape of the boot.

The Skoda luggage net system fits behind the front seats as well as the rears.

Not sure it would be an easy DIY fit though.

I have the partition net system. As far as I know it is factory option only since it needs internal roof mounts behind the front and rear seats.

Anybody got any photos they can put on a photoshare site and post a link to?

I was wondering how to anchor something removable, just behind the front seats in the corners and above the headrest level, then I could look at dog guards. Minimum could be a couple of 12mm holes with discrete trim cover caps and sliding/locking  bolts on the removeable frame. Finding/making the bottom anchoring should not be too diffcult.

Skoda Ireland do a two seat commercial yeti have a look and see if they do something.

This is the "factory" way with the 2 seater Yeti Sherpa.

That's nice! I wonder if the kit is available for self fitting?

The reviewer in that article says "The conversion is tidily done". so perhaps Skoda Ireland commissioned it. Worth inquiring.

That is very tidy and would be a good setup to start with, creating the flat loading floor I'm looking for. I think I would still like the mesh screen behind though. I'll make some enquiries of the dealerships. What is under the last section behind the front seats? Presumable it is shaped foam to fit in the seat cavities??

It looks like there are lift-up doors in that panel over the seat cavity?

Great second car!

I Ours is the 4X4 so we have that raised tray in the boot.

A minor observation; there's no significant difference in the boot floor between the 2WD and 4WD variants.

The boot floor is raised (on both) by having either the spare wheel kit or the variable boot floor kit. Which do you have?

While the Irish van solution does look good and there would be some weight saving, the load space it's not massively different to simply having the seat backs folded flat.

The Skoda luggage net system fits behind the front seats as well as the rears.

Not sure it would be an easy DIY fit though.

I've not got a photo of it fitted behind the front seats but it absolutely does fit there & I have used it in that position for taking stuff to the tip.
