as title, need to replace the Yeti next year as I will need a car that will carry a new baby, a 3 year old and a 6 year old and the Yeti just isn't wide enough to fit 3 kids seats in.

 

does any one do this or has anyone tried and failed?

 

I really don't want to get an MPV and the new large Skoda 4 X 4 wont be available in time.

 

 

It's wider than the current SII but still not sure whether 3x child seats will fit across.

There's space enough in the boot for the kids. Why have them cluttering up your nice new car? 

Yes it will but depends on your specific car seats. I have 1 in a high back booster and two in normal boosters, all fit fine width wise when I tested it but the middle one was a faff to do up due to my booster seat shape. I'll prob just buy a different booster when it arrives.

It's one of the only normal cars you can get three across though.

Might not help, but perhaps worth mentioning you can spec isofix on the front passenger seat.

Could fit three on my Octy MkII and MkIII. I am sure the Superb will be even more comfortable.

Here are three child seats in my previous Octavia 2. The same is also with Superb 2, so I also do not see a problem regarding this with Superb 3. Though, I must admit that you have to do some excercise to lock all the seatbelts .

 

And (THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT) do not go out buying 3 child seats and then trying to squeeze them into the car. Why? Becasue child seats are quite different and some can be extremelly wide so it will be impossible to get them three in a row.

I did like this: checked tests of child seats and selected few of the safest. Took the car to the shop and then tried those few seats which was the best fit. And that's it.

With three kids it's always tricky. Since having kids I've had I've had a megane scenic, 3 mondeos, x-trail, s-max, Galaxy, xc90 and a caravelle. The caravelle won for space, the smax, Galaxy and xc90 were all fine with three kids, the mondeos were too small for 3 full size car seats. but I've been missing a "normal" car and the kids are getting bigger so am happy to be getting the superb.

Well, logic in my country is like this :peek: :
- one child: estate is a must
- two children: minivan or SUV
- three children: van, for example VW Transporter or even better a minibus :)

I have a problem, because I do not like estates, MPVs or SUVs , so I have to get by with saloon :p.
But you know what they say: it does not matter how much space you have, it will allways be to little for your wife .
Though I must say that my does miracles, because we didn't have any problems to use Octy saloon with two children. And now with Superb we almost have too much space .

yes been looking at the new Mercedes v class but i'm not sure i want to go quite that big so quickly.

 

either that or a Jeep Grand Cherokee but its got a lot of chrome on it 

Anyway, if a Superb estate is not big enough for three children, I would say that it is not a problem in a Superb... :p

I have 3 kids. Aged 9, 7 and 2. I use a proper car seat for the youngest and 2 Bubble Bums for the older two. They love them and they are very narrow.

There is always this option, but they are expensive though.

How can their 4-seaters be legal - I could be wrong, but I thought the car's type approval and registration documents declared the number of seats it had?

I think as long as every occupant gets a seat belt, it's fine. Don't take this as fact though, just my thought on it.

I have two Britax Kidfix ISOFIX high back booster seats in the back of our SII, and there is no room in the middle for anything but Kate Moss. The SIII is 47mm wider which really isnt enough to fit a third kids seat (other than a bubblebum type booster). I believe Britax have a seat finder thing on their website which will tell you what fits in specific cars, so that might be worth a go.

I unfortunately had to decide on an Alhambra :no: Seat seem to take as long as Skoda to deliver cars but hopefully will turn up fairly soon

Same sort of question from me. I have 3 children. 1 in an isofix baby seat and

2 on booster seats

I'm currently borrowing a mk 3 octavia and they fit in the back of that but getting to the seatbelts prove to be a challenge.

I decided that I might as well get something properly big enough as it might stop the kids fighting if one is out the way in the back row

Yetivrs, we're hoping to be in the same position soon. I was given a Seat Alhambra as a hire car a while back, and was reading through the thread itching to suggest it. So comfortable and practical. Insanely massive boot with seats 6 and 7 down.
